Liverpool Set to Clash with Paris St-Germain in Champions League Round of 16, Arsenal to Battle PSV Eindhoven, and Aston Villa to Compete Against Club Brugge

Reigning champions Real Madrid will go head-to-head with city adversaries Atletico Madrid, while Bayern Munich squares off against Bayer Leverkusen in an all-German showdown.

It marks the first occasion Liverpool will encounter PSG since the 2018-19 campaign, a season where the Reds ultimately triumphed as kings of Europe for the sixth occasion.

The victors of that contest will take on Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarter-finals, whereas Arsenal could potentially face 15-time record holders Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the last eight—provided they conquer PSV.

The two-legged round of 16 matches are scheduled for 4-5 March and 11-12 March.

Liverpool & Villa on Course for European Showdown

Current English top-flight leaders Liverpool facing off against reigning French title-holders Paris St-Germain promises to be a captivating matchup.

PSG seemed destined to be eliminated before a late resurgence enabled them to secure 15th position in the league stage.

They suffered a setback against Arsenal before overcoming Manchester City, setting up an all-French knockout round battle with Brest, which they dominated with a 10-0 aggregate victory.

PSG boasts Ousmane Dembele, one of the most prolific forwards in Europe at present, having netted six times in this season’s tournament.

Should Liverpool prevail over Luis Enrique’s squad, they will encounter domestic counterparts Aston Villa, provided Unai Emery’s men navigate past Belgian title-holders Club Brugge, who ended 24th in the league phase before eliminating Atalanta in the knockout round play-offs.

Arsenal’s challengers, PSV Eindhoven, are the defending Dutch champions who defeated a rotated Liverpool squad 3-2 in January en route to securing 14th position in the league phase.
