A Matt Currie hat-trick propelled Edinburgh to a 34-28 triumph over Munster at Musgrave Park.

Playing in Cork instead of Thomond Park, Sean Everitt’s squad became the first URC team since 2019 to defeat Munster at their secondary home ground.

Edinburgh, bolstered by a commanding scrum, secured a four-try bonus point by halftime and deserved their victory despite Munster’s late rally.

The hosts, in their first match since Clayton McMillan’s appointment as next season’s coach, earned two bonus points in defeat via Sean O’Brien’s late try and Billy Burns’ conversion.

The win moves Edinburgh to sixth in the standings, just one spot and three points behind Munster.

Fly-half Ross Thompson opened the scoring with a penalty after a scrum infringement.

Munster briefly led when Alex Nankivell finished strongly following a powerful carry by Brian Gleeson.

Edinburgh responded with tries from Thompson, Currie (twice), and Bradbury, capitalizing on their scrum dominance.

After halftime, Munster’s Nankivell scored again, but Currie’s third try sealed Edinburgh’s victory.

Late tries from O’Connor and O’Brien narrowed the gap, but Edinburgh held on for the win.
